Viewing Notifications
Notifications are Context-Sensitive
As you progress from the dashboard of the app to more specific screens, your network view becomes more focused. Viewing (and customizing) notifications follows the same progression. Using this context-sensitive principle makes it easier for you to get to the exact notification you want to see:
Go to the dashboard to view all notifications associated with the entire network at once
Go to the Devices screen to view notifications for all Devices; likewise for Users and Groups
Go to the specific device, user, or group screen to view notifications related only to that individual entity
Once on your selected screen, click the flag icon to open the Notifications panel. For example, from the Devices screen, you now have several viewing options:
All red flag notifications related only to Devices will display first
Turn on the “Show blue flag” toggle to see all notifications (red and blue flags) related to only Devices
Click on the “All” button next to Devices, in this case, to expand the list to include all Island notifications; the All button serves as a convenient shortcut without having to navigate back to the app home screen and open notifications there. Note that you can view All notifications with or without Including blue flags
What Notifications Tell You
To keep the length of the list manageable, only notifications that occurred during the previous 7 days are included in the viewing panel. Notifications are listed from most to least recent. As you can see above, each notification takes up its own tile and conveys this information:
The name of the device, user, group, filter, or system issue that the notification is about
On the left, a color bar if the device is assigned to a user or group; otherwise, it is gray
Also on the left, an icon that best fits the type of triggering event; for example, the light bulb icon displays as clear for offline and solid for online
A timestamp that details when the event occurred most recently, how many times it has occurred since first observed, and the timestamp of the earliest occurrence
Any notification that displays as grayed out means that it has previously been viewed
On the right, the flag color that indicates the notification level, either red or blue
