New Island Pro Installation

Before you begin, you should have the following:

  • Internet Service
    Note
: When ordering Internet service, you can request a combo unit provisioned in pass-through mode.  You simply need a modem or combo unit with a public IP address.

  • A switch

  • APs or a mesh system for Wi-Fi

Step 1:

Know what type of service you have from the ISP-provided modem (e.g., 2.5 Gbps).

Important: If you have a combo unit, make sure it is in bridge mode.

Note: The steps below reflect a modem-only configuration, not a combo unit.

Step 2:

Power up Island. Wait about 30 seconds for the light to turn from white to blue.

Step 3:

Plug the combo unit or modem into Island (modem-to-SFP+ port connection shown. Alternatively, use ports 1-6 for up to 2.5 Gbps.

Important: This is now your WAN port. Note the port number.

Step 4:

Plug the switch into an available port on Island.

Important:   This is now your LAN port. Note the port number.

Step 5:

Plug the AP or mesh into the switch.  If you are using a mesh, make sure it is in AP mode and not router mode.

Step 6:

You may continue with set up using either the phone app or the web app.

Recommended: Instead of launching the app, plug a laptop into the switch, open a browser, and type my.islandrouter.com to continue with setup.

If using the phone app, make sure you are connected to the newly installed Wi-Fi and launch the app if you haven’t already. The app will discover Island and continue with set up.

Important: We recommend you go directly to the network menu to configure your LAN and WAN interfaces. Click here for instructions.
