Wireless Router (remove)Switch

Step 1:

Plug in and install APs or a mesh system according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Make sure it’s operational and if a mesh system, place in AP mode.

Plug the AP or mesh into an available port on the switch.

Step 2:

Power up Island. Wait about 30 seconds for the light to turn from white to blue.

Step 3:

Plug Island into the switch. Within seconds, Island’s Smart Swap feature learns the existing network addresses.

Important: This is now your LAN port. Note the port number.

Step 4:

Identify the cable connecting the LAN port on the modem to the existing wireless router. Unplug it from the existing wireless router and plug it into any port on the Island (either a 2.5G port or 10G port with appropriate transceiver).

Important: This is now your Island WAN port. Note the port number.

Step 5:

Unplug the existing router from the switch. Remove the wireless router.

Step 5:

You may continue with set up using either the phone app or the web app.

Recommended: Instead of launching the app, plug a laptop into the switch, open a browser, and type my.islandrouter.com to continue with setup.

If using the phone app, make sure you are connected to the newly installed Wi-Fi and launch the app if you haven’t already. The app will discover Island and continue with set up.

Important: We recommend you go directly to the network menu to configure your LAN and WAN interfaces. Click here for instructions.
